Purushwadi- Immersing Yourself In A Forest Full Of Fireflies
People travel in search of adventure, places, culture, religion, cuisine and so much more; and then, you have Purushwadi in Ahmednagar district. A place that attracts those in search of some good, old-world charm, for it has swarms of fireflies coming in. It is home to the Hindu Mahadeo Koli tribe, who are rice cultivators and herdsmen, in a matriarchal society that is believed to be protected by the local goddess Zakubai. Firefly Festival of a Million Fireflies is on from May until July, but the best time to see lightning bugs is said to be the two weeks preceding the monsoon; typically the first fortnight of June.
