Aravalli Mountain

The Aravalli Range is a mountain range in Northwestern India, running approximately 670 km (430 mi) in a south-west direction, starting near Delhi, passing through southern Haryana and Rajasthan, and ending in Gujarat. The highest peak is Guru Shikhar at 1,722 meters (5,650 ft).


It is also an eroded stub of ancient mountains, is the oldest range of fold mountains in India. The southern Aravalli enters the northeast of Gujarat near Modasa where it lends its name to the Aravalli district, and ends at the centre of the state at Palanpur near Ahmedabad. One of the major river named Luni flows into the Rann of Kutch. It has also has several forests with a diversity of environment.
